What is the object in the pit box of F 1 cars?

New to watching Formula racing……I noticed a square plate with upcurving straps on the ground in the pit box of some cars. Seems to be about midway under the car when the car is stopped. Does anyone know what it is or it is used for? I thought maybe to discharge static electricity or something. Just curious.
